This is gooooood ice cream. This is “Oh my God” ice cream. It is considered by many to be the best ice cream in Paris, and the Parisians love it. You can only find it in Paris, which makes it even more special.
Berthillon serves up 36 wonderful homemade flavors of ice cream (list) and 32 flavors of sorbet (list). There is often a line outside their carry out window on the Rue St. Louis en l’Ile, but it is worth the wait (although in summertime it can snake down the street). Frustrating but true, the main shop on the Ile St. Louis is CLOSED in August. Yes, no ice cream in August. But alas, there are a few different shops that sell Berthillon on the Ile St. Louis. So if one is closed or out of your flavor of choice just go to the next! Berthillon is also served in many cafés around Paris, but they have limited flavors.

It’s a complete and total whole body experience! We booked an apartment around the corner from the Main store in the l’Ile. I read about this place in a guide book. It was the deciding factor as to which area of Paris we would rent an apartment. My first lick of Noisette Ice cream caused me to stagger from the impact of it upon my taste buds. There is none like it that I know of, or have ever tasted. I am passionate about ice cream

It was a very small scoop of ice cream.
Two scoops of ice cream costs 4 euro.

I have never been able to find Berthillon open. A cafe nearby had a cart outside serving what they claimed was Berthillon ice cream. I didn’t think it was memorable.
